Examples of Activities That a Research Assistant Participates In

  • Conducting literature searches through databases including PsycINFO and PubMed
  • Recruiting participants through in-person (flyers) and online channels (Kijiji, Craigslist, Internet forums)
  • Running in-person and online studies. RA’s have in person shifts.
  • Attending biweekly lab meetings where RAs take part in the research process and share input
  • Attending biweekly Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee meetings with other research assistants, graduate students, postdoctoral fellow(s), and Dr. LeMoult
  • Creating, editing, and piloting surveys through Qualtrics
  • Clinical phone screen interviewing for potential participants
  • Data transcribing, coding, cleaning and reviewing
  • Connecting with our graduate students, postdoctoral fellow, or Dr. LeMoult, who can answer any questions you may have about research, graduate studies, etc.
  • Gaining exposure to statistical software (eg. SPSS, R), psychophysiological equipment and software, cognitive task software (eg. E-Prime, Pavlovia), and other software
  • Completing BioSafety training
  • Gaining exposure to different types of lit searches
  • Contributing to meta-analysis studies and publications
